Whimsy, earthenware, bright colors, it's no wonder I love Bogard's sculptures. But I think it's the gesture, relationships, and emotion which entangle these surreal figures that really legitimizes them. I would love to see these pieces in person one day and would equally love a workshop by Bogard. I am so curious how she goes about developing her concepts, constructing these figures, and her finishing the surfaces (these are all cold finished). Scratch that, you can see exactly how she makes these sculptures on her website. Bogard has photo-documented the entire process. How lucky are we?

You weren't kidding when you said that she photo-documented the ENTIRE process, were you? Even down to the packing for shipment. What a great resource.
I think that this is the first time (that I am aware of) that I have seen acrylic & oil paint finished ceramics. They are fantastic!!
Ken Price and Bennett Bean have been painting on ceramic for years.
So surreal. And somehow uncanny-creepy.
Such beautiful work. She really blows my mind. like a candied nightmare.
